10/1 Steuben County, 3.2 mile track. Tracker Jason Pollock and I took the bear call. I was going to work the bloodhound, Jason was going to be the "eyes" with the gun. Ariel had zero trouble tracking the bear. We first jumped the bear at the one mile mark, it bedded again within a few 100 yards. The bed was covered with blood and had a large clot about the size of a water bottle in it. The bear then took us another two miles, crossed two roads and traversed a river. We finally called the track, when the bear climbed a steep cliff that was too dangerous for us to navigate in the dark. The hit was believed to be forward.
