Arrow Tells All

10/3 Even though the dog & I were exhausted from our morning track. I decided to take a call from a neighbor. His hit description was low, right behind the shoulder. Good blood to start which fizzled out quickly. Inspecting the hit location, the hunters wife found the arrow. No blood on the arrow shaft or fletching. By all indications a flesh wound. I want to study Ariels body language on a non fatal hit so I turned her loose. She blasted the first 400 yards very quickly to a wound bed which was located in a thick blow down. Three tiny drops of blood confirmed we were on correct deer. Once the buck exited the bed, Ariel's demeanor quickly changed. Ariel circled the area for an extended period of time, before heading down the hill. She walked us to the buck, which stood up 80 yards in front of us and trotted away. She abandoned the track, her body language screamed healthy deer.
